Privacy Policy

Overview

CreatorCodes collects only the data needed to operate the platform: helping shoppers get creator codes at checkout and crediting creators for recovered commissions. We do not sell personal data. This policy explains what we collect from each type of user, how we use it, and who we share it with.

What we collect — shoppers

When you use the CreatorCodes browser extension, we collect extension usage events: which checkout pages the extension activates on, which creator code (if any) was applied, whether a purchase was completed, and the order total and discount amount so the creator can be credited correctly. We do not collect the full contents of your shopping cart, your payment information, or your browsing history outside of checkout pages at supported brands.

If you create a shopper account (optional — it lets you pick a preferred creator per brand), we store your email address and your preferences. Otherwise, usage events are tied to an anonymous session identifier, not to your name or email.

What we collect — creators

Creator accounts require an email address and display name. You may optionally add an avatar, bio, and social profile links. We store the discount and affiliate codes you submit along with the brands they apply to.

For billing, we create a Stripe customer on your behalf when you add a payment method. CreatorCodes does not store full card numbers or CVV codes — that data lives with Stripe under their own privacy and security controls. We only store a Stripe customer ID and subscription status so we can bill correctly.

How we use the data

We use shopper usage events to attribute which creator's code led to a confirmed checkout, so billing and engagement metrics are accurate. We use aggregated, anonymised usage data to improve the extension — for example, to understand which brands see the most checkout activity and where detection can be tuned.

We use creator account data to manage your codes, process billing via Stripe, and communicate service updates (a welcome email, billing notices, and occasional product updates you can unsubscribe from). We do not use your data for advertising or sell it to any third party.

Who we share with

We share data with the following third parties only as necessary to operate the service:

  • Stripe — processes creator billing. Receives payment details (which Stripe stores) and the invoice amounts we generate. See stripe.com/privacy.
  • Supabase & Fly.io — our database and hosting providers store the data described above under standard operational agreements. They are not permitted to use the data for their own purposes.
  • Resend — sends transactional email (email verification, password resets, billing notices). Resend receives the recipient email and the email content.
  • Google Analytics — aggregated website traffic measurement only, never tied to individual shoppers' extension usage.
  • Brand affiliate programs — when your code is applied at checkout, the brand's existing affiliate tracking sees that code was used (as it would regardless of CreatorCodes). No additional shopper data is passed.

Cookies

The CreatorCodes website uses a minimal set of cookies:

  • Session cookie (wasp:sessionId) — keeps you logged in to the creator dashboard. First-party, essential.
  • Referral cookie (cc_ref_slug) — when you arrive via a creator's link (e.g. getcreatorcodes.com/c/someone), this cookie remembers which creator referred you so they get credit when you sign up. Expires after 30 days.
  • Google Analytics (_ga, _ga_*) — aggregated traffic measurement. No cross-site tracking; no advertising cookies.

Clearing cookies at any time is fine — you'll just need to log back in to the creator dashboard afterwards.

Your rights

You can request a copy of the personal data we hold about you, or ask us to delete it, at any time. Email hello@getcreatorcodes.com with the subject line "Data request". We respond within 30 days. Deletion removes your account and associated data; anonymised usage events that cannot be linked back to you are retained for operational reporting.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes — for example, if we start collecting a new category of data — we'll notify registered users by email before the change takes effect. The current version is always at getcreatorcodes.com/privacy.
